Tabla de Contenidos
At the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula, where the Sea of Cortez meets the Pacific, Los Cabos pairs dramatic desert-meets-ocean scenery with world-class resorts, sportfishing and two very different towns: lively Cabo San Lucas and artsy San José del Cabo. Here are the best things to do in Los Cabos.
See El Arco and Land’s End
The iconic El Arco — a natural rock arch at the very tip of Baja — is the symbol of Los Cabos. Take a glass-bottom or boat tour from the marina to see it up close, along with Lover’s Beach (Playa del Amor) on the calm Sea of Cortez side and wild “Divorce Beach” facing the Pacific.
Enjoy the Marina and Médano Beach

Cabo San Lucas buzzes around its marina, lined with restaurants, bars and the departure point for boat trips. The adjacent Playa El Médano is the main swimmable beach in town — golden sand, calm water and plenty of beach clubs and water sports.
Wander San José del Cabo
Twenty miles east, San José del Cabo is the calmer, more traditional half of Los Cabos. Its colonial old town centers on a mission church and a thriving Gallery District, best experienced on the Thursday evening Art Walk in season.
Snorkel the Corridor beaches
Between the two towns, the Tourist Corridor hides the region’s best swimming and snorkeling beaches. Chileno and Santa María are protected, calm bays with clear water and reef fish — bring your own gear and go early for parking.
Go whale watching and sportfishing
Los Cabos is the self-styled “Marlin Capital of the World,” and charters head out year-round. From December to April, humpback and gray whales migrate past the cape, making whale-watching tours a winter must.
Day trip to Todos Santos
About an hour north on the Pacific, Todos Santos is a Pueblo Mágico of art galleries, surf beaches and the famous Hotel California. It’s an easy, scenic escape from the resorts.
🌊 Safety tip: many Los Cabos beaches have strong surf and dangerous currents and are not safe for swimming. Stick to protected beaches like Médano, Chileno and Santa María, and watch for warning flags.
Getting around Los Cabos
Los Cabos is spread out: the airport is near San José del Cabo, about 30–40 minutes from Cabo San Lucas, with the Corridor in between. A car makes it far easier (and cheaper) to move between the towns, reach the quiet beaches and drive to Todos Santos.
🚗 Cover the whole cape: a car rental in Los Cabos connects the two towns, the Corridor beaches and Todos Santos on your own schedule — all-in rates, no hidden fees. See our Los Cabos airport car rental guide to pick up on arrival, and check flights at Los Cabos Airport.
