It leads to the old town, home to the <strong>Cathedral Basilica<\/strong>, the <strong>Plaza de los Fundadores<\/strong> and the elegant <strong>Teatro Doblado<\/strong>. The <strong>Zona Piel<\/strong> packs dozens of stores selling footwear, bags, belts and leather jackets at factory prices. If you\u2019re after boots, formal shoes or leather goods, this is the place: ask around, compare and don\u2019t be shy about haggling. In under an hour you reach the state capital, <strong>Guanajuato<\/strong>, with its alleys and the P\u00edpila monument; a bit farther lie <strong>Dolores Hidalgo<\/strong> and <strong>San Miguel de Allende<\/strong>, one of the most beautiful destinations in the country.
